In the early 90’s, press technology revolutionized the use of ceramics in the
fabrication of fixed restorations/prostheses. Pressable ceramics allowed us to combine
the strength of a reinforced glass ceramic core with the esthetic results of conventional
layering porcelains. The latest IPS e-max line of products by Ivolcar Vivadent
comprises highly esthetic and high-strength materials for the press technology.
Highlights of the IPS e-max system
- Highly esthetic and high-strength all-ceramic materials can be combined
- One layering ceramic for glass- and zirconium oxide
- Predictable shade results and similar clinical behaviour even in different restoration
- Lithium disilicate glass ceramic with a flexural strength of 400 Mpa.
- Maximum versatility provided with a modular system
- Adhesive, self-adhesive and conventional cementation
IPS Empress Esthetic
Another Ivoclar Vivadent product which has evolved into the “gold standard” in Press
Technology is the IPS Empress system. Introduced about 15 years ago, the IPS
Empress material is made of an extremely homogeneous leucite-reinforced glass
ceramic which scatters light like natural enamel and blends in seamlessly with the
surrounding dentition, making it the material of choice for highly esthetic all-ceramic
single tooth restorations (inlays, onlays, anterior veneers or crowns).
Highlights of the IPS Empress system
- More than 15 years of experience with leucite glass-ceramics
- Leucite based glass ceramic exhibits excellent light-optical properties, resulting
in lifelike translucency and a true-to-nature appearance of the fabricated restorations
- Material exhibits a flexural strength value of 160 Mpa
- Exhibits high precision and accuracy of fit
